Day Three - May 3 2008 - Mucha Mania, Parks and the scent of Honeysuckle and Lilacs, a Dancing Building, and a Cheeseburger for dinner....

Greetings once again to everyone back home,

After the first two days, I decided to take it easy today. There is one more sight that I would really like to see, and that is the Jewish Museum. With it being Saturday today, it is closed. I will wait to see it tomorrow before my train departs.

Since I also needed to mail off my post cards, I decided to do that first, then visit the Mucha Museum, then head out to the park at Vysehrad, then stroll along the river, see the "Dancing Building", a building designed by Frank Gearhy, then wherever the day takes me.

I can't say it enough. The buildings here are spectacular. And while the Gothic style gets the majority of the recognition, due to the spires all over the city, the Art Nouveau is my favorite. The first of the photos below is of the Hotel Europa, which is a gorgeous looking building in person. Too bad that it is surrounded by modern concrete boxes now.

The museum was really good. I had no idea the company that Mucha kept while he was living in Paris. I veritable who's who of artists, Matisse, Rodin, Monet, etc...

The park(s) at Vysehrad were awash with blooms. The honeysuckle and lilacs were everywhere. I hope that the detail of the second photo is good enough. I was trying to show the Vltava river valley as it comes down through Bohemia, through the honeysuckle blossoms.

As I strolled along the river, the clouds came back, and the rain started again. I was hoping to get a picture of the Dancing Building in the sun, but alas.

I had an "American" style cheeseburger and fries that night for dinner. It was good, but it definitely was not a cheeseburger from the Edgefeild, that is for sure. The remainder of the pictures are from my wanderings around the city on my last night in Prague.

Until next time, Scot
